Spiritual Sparks: Purpose ... Why Am I Here?
Awaken your purpose: The doorway to a purpose-driven life
Awaken your purpose: The doorway to a purpose-driven life
Welcome to Spiritual Sparks. You’re receiving this email because you signed up to receive weekly insights on spirituality. Each week, I share 3 meaningful ideas, 2 thought-provoking quotes, and 1 reflective question.
Some say that one of life’s greatest challenges is sustaining a sense of meaning over many decades. This week’s topic is purpose.
Living well may add years to your life, but discovering your purpose will add life to your years.
✨3 Ideas
The Human Capacity to Seek Purpose
We are wired to ask: Why am I here? What is my purpose? What is the meaning of my existence?
The ache for meaning is the most basic expression of our spiritual essence.
A giraffe munching on leaves never pauses to ask, “Is this what life is all about?”
To seek purpose is to acknowledge that life is more than survival or success.
Actualizing our spirituality begins not with certainty, but with the willingness to ask.
The very act of asking awakens the soul, stirring our deepest essence to seek.
The Uniqueness of Each Person’s Mission
You weren’t made to be Moses, da Vinci, or Michael Jordan.
The Divine question isn’t “Why weren’t you them?” but “Why didn’t you become you?”
Your mission is as unique as your fingerprint, and just as intentional.
The stars are named. You were named in love to share love.
You are one-of-a-kind, with a shifting mission each season of your life: never lived before, never to be repeated.
The Gateway to Purpose: Self-Knowledge and Action
The journey inward is the first step toward living outward with purpose.
Woe to the person who doesn’t know their faults, for they don’t know what to correct.
Double woe to the one who doesn’t know their strengths, for they are unaware of their gifts.
Purpose doesn’t live in thought alone.
A ship is safe in a harbor, but ships are made to sail, and so are we.
The soul doesn’t seek perfection.
It seeks participation.
When you act from who you truly are, you walk with purpose.

❓1 Question
What are your superpowers? The gifts that make you feel most alive and help others come alive too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meaning isn’t something we discover only once.
It’s something we cultivate daily, through the choices we make and the love we share.
I’d love to hear what gives your life meaning, especially in the quiet, ordinary moments.
Until next time,
Wishing you purpose, presence, and the joy of becoming,
Rabbi Ze’ev Smason
